- Meditoxin is an immunobiological drug with a muscle relaxant effect that consists of a protein complex derived from Clostridium botulinum, including type A Meditoxin and other proteins. When the complex breaks down under normal physiological conditions, pure neurotoxin is released. Meditoxin type A binds to the nerve endings of motor neurons, penetrates the nerve cells, and blocks acetylcholine release in the neuromuscular synapse. This results in local muscle denervation through chemical means, leading to muscle weakness and paralysis.
