Description

Volassom Calcium Injectable Implant Protocol

Indications:

• Correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (e.g., nasolabial folds)
• Restoration and correction of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy)

Contraindications:

• Severe allergies, history of anaphylaxis, or multiple severe allergies
• Known hypersensitivity to any components
• Patients with bleeding disorders

Individualization of Treatment: Assess the patient’s suitability and need for pain relief. Treatment outcomes may vary, and additional treatments might be necessary based on the defect size and patient needs.

Directions for Use:

Preparation:

1. Prepare the patient for percutaneous injection using standard methods.
2. Mark and prepare the injection site with an antiseptic.
3. Use local or topical anesthesia at the discretion of the physician.

Injection:

1. Locate the initial implant site, avoiding scar tissue and cartilage.
2. Use a 1:1 correction factor with lidocaine and/or saline; no overcorrection needed.
3. Insert the cannula bevel down at approximately a 30° angle to the skin.
4. Adjust cannula placement if significant resistance is encountered.
5. Advance the needle into the subdermis and inject the implant material in linear threads while withdrawing the cannula.
6. Apply slow, continuous, even pressure to the syringe plunger for even distribution.
7. Massage the injected area to achieve an even distribution of the implant.

Disposal:

• Use once and discard following local safety standards.

Technique for Mixing with Lidocaine:

1. Do not use the Volassom Calcium and lidocaine mixture later than 2 hours after mixing.
2. Assembled components are intended for one-time use only.

Cannula & Syringe:

• Sterile 22-25G cannula
• 3.0cc sterile polypropylene luer-lock syringe
• 0.2cc of 2% lidocaine for injection
• Sterile female-to-female luer lock connector
• 0.8cc syringe of Volassom Calcium injectable implant

Component Assembly and Mixing Instructions:

1. Use sterile technique to assemble components and perform mixing.
2. Draw lidocaine into a 3.0cc sterile polypropylene mixing syringe fitted with a sterile 27 gauge, 0.5” needle.
3. Tap the syringe to remove excess air and depress the push rod.
4. Remove the needle and connect the mixing syringe to the Volassom Calcium syringe using the luer lock connector.
5. Mix by alternately depressing plungers on both syringes for ten mixing strokes (one stroke equals one full compression of both plungers).
6. After mixing, remove and discard the mixing syringe and luer lock connector.
7. Fit the Volassom Calcium syringe with an injection cannula.
8. Proceed with the injection.
